The news of a small boy falling from terrace because a pet dog chased him is terrible. There are many questions arising out of these. In 6 months, we have had two cases of fully loaded lorries backing up narrow streets squeezing the life out of two people in the process. Last week there was the case of another weird accident on the road side...is Chennai's careless civic life proving to costly? We are all lacklustre to mutual safety norms till we are knocked down, literally. Can something be done? 

Ambedhkar & Mayawati almost resemble Armstrong, the BSP leader in Chennai. All along the north chennai walls you will find this grafitti. Wall paintings are more fun than the flex which just reproduces the original, the small distortions, the wanton changes to facial structure and dramatic colours all render the street walls into art galleries during a heavy political season.

I am amazed all the time at the labor pains being borne by the ordinary citizens in delivering supposedly 'efficient' technology systems in public institutions. Chennai Telephones is one case and self the victim. read on... Chennai Telephones shifted my telephone from one end of the city to other after collecting all the dues (or so I thought). This was in November. I had paid the November bill on time and constant travel meant December bill was not paid by due date. So, the telephone went 'off' after the grace period granted by the Department. When I went and paid the bill within a day, I assumed that the connection will be through immediately. Not so. The handset whenever we tried to call another number, kept telling us that, 'your line has been dis-connected, please contact the area accounts officer for details' . I visited one of the customer care centres of BSNL, the very friendly lady asked me for all the details and whether it was a recently shift...

Chennai buses have been trying to improve their commerce through innovative methods in recent times, yesterday I saw this new innovative hand grip for the standing travellers, this is rather unique and innovative and if the grip is good, perhaps good for the passengers though it does look like taking things to some absurd levels.
